Bridge of No Crossing

Find the direct experience of the place, the thing, the entity,
where sensory experience bridges.  Where it crosses over.  Meets.

Can anything other than the body be pointed to?

And within that body, find the direct experience of an exact location you call "The Crossroads", the single point at which all of the senses connect.  When and if you do find it, then...

Taste.  Can that taste be felt?
Smell.  Can that scent be heard?
Sound.  Can that sound be seen?

  1. What's the point of asking if a sound can be seen?

    1. To prompt you to investigate it, and the reason why it may or may not be true.

    2. Ofcourse sound can't be seen.

    3. That wasn't the only question. :)

I'd wager that when you're response starts of with "of course", it may be an indication that this type of inquiry isn't for you. Not all of the pointers on this blog suit everyone, but they're not meant to either. Hope you find what you're looking for either elsewhere in this blog, or outside of it.

  2. Oh this is interesting, I actually just came across this strange point the other day (not in a very focused way yet though). A weird thing that I have started to see in a hazy sort of way, is that objects don't exist? As in, when I consider 'my hand', I think of it as this solid thing, but it's actually just an aggregate of feeling/weight and the visual component, which are sort of overlaid. The 'visual hand' isn't actually doing the feeling though, and the 'feeling hand' isn't doing the sight-- which means that there is no real 'hand', because there is no 'hand-ness' in either of the qualities, or between them.

    1. Yes. The senses are actually 'disjointed' and the illusion is that there is a central controller. But then you've seen the flip side of this coin which is that the objects exist only through the senses and since the senses don't cross over, how is the object 'whole'? A 'round, white, smooth ball' is a composite (or as you said, aggregate) of several sense streams!

    2. Hey Delma, I've been bouncing this particular question around in my head for a few weeks now. There seems to be some sense that what I/you had said about the crossover thing was true, and at times I can focus with the angle and gain some temporary relief from stress and what not. The only thing is that there hasn't been any solid perspective change, which is what I'm anticipating. There are moments where I feel like I'm gaining some traction with the no-self investigation, but a lot of times it just seems I just spin out into some cognitive mess and end up just tussling with thoughts; maybe I'm just a bit impatient and keep switching focus too much. Anyhow, along with the crossover question, I'm also currently trying to get at this one: 'Is there anything that is being experienced now that has experienced anything before?', and I'm just trying to tease out how it is that thoughts/memory make it feel as though 'I' have already experienced something before. I've read in some places that it's better to focus somewhere else other than thoughts, but that's the thing that always seems to be in the way, and so it seems as though this should obstacle should be investigated. If you have any comments or questions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks

  3. " but a lot of times it just seems I just spin out into some cognitive mess and end up just tussling with thoughts;"

Little do you know what a gem you've written here. :)

The issue is not just the self. The issue is thought itself. The cognitive mess happens, but when it's seen as inert thought which comes from nowhere, exists nowhere, and goes nowhere, thought becomes a non issue. It can come and go as it pleases.

Don't just see through thoughts about You. See through thought itself. What power does it have to affect reality? None. Only action affects reality and action is not *caused* by thought. It only appears so.
